On Wednesday's version of 'Déise Today', Damien was speaking to the new president of the 'Irish Postmasters Union' who works in Tramore.
Sean Martin has been the postmaster for the Tramore post office for 27 years and has been a member of the IPU executive for 20 years as well.
Sean was explaining to Damien that his main priority in this role will be to continue to develop the role of the post office and to make sure that we do not see more closures of the post office. We have witnessed post offices closing recently in areas such as Kilmeaden and Passage East in recent times.
Sean would be quite critical of the government in the way that they are giving banks what should be post office business and feels that there is so much more potential for the post office to be so much more than what it currently is.

Also on Wednesday's version of 'Déise Today', we had the brilliant conclusion to Ciara's story of how due to a mix up in the passport office, she could not go on her holiday with her two daughters to Crete to see her sister. That was aired on Tuesday's version of 'Déise Today' and today, an anonymous person called into WLR's office to give a large amount of money to Ciara so that she could go on her holiday. We rang Ciara and told her this on air, and she was thrilled.
