On Wednesday's Déise Today, Damien was talking to two people on the new EU proposals which would see cars here in Ireland programmed to stick within a set speed limit!
Damien was talking first of all to Tom Flynn, who is a bus driver from The Nire. The question was posed to Tom if there should be limiters set on cars. Tom believes that these limiters should definitely be put on young drivers as he says that unfortunately "younger especially should, I'm a bus driver, and I have it on my bus, and I think for people under the age of 25 that it is a good idea".
He believes that the insurance system at the moment is an imperfect system as rates go up and young people are struggling to get insured. Tom says that by putting limiters on young people's cars, their insurances would go down and is a good system for everyone.
Mr Tiernan was then talking to Barry Aldworth, a media officer with AA Ireland. He says that it "would use GPS programmes in order to stop the car from going over the speed limit".
He says that hopefully, this will cause "fewer accidents" and "in theory, this would bring down the price of insurance, but this is technology four years down the line, so we simply don't know".

Wednesday's Déise Today also saw plenty of talk on many other topics. Damien was talking to Nicola Anderson of 'The Irish Independent' on the Patrick Quirke murder trial and what we can expect from here. Paul Lennon, soccer correspondent with 'The Irish Daily Star' on the controversy that surrounded the Ireland vs Georgia match with the ongoing protests against John Delaney of the FAI.
