On Wednesday's 'Déise Today', Damien was able to sit down with renowned international journalists Robbyn Swan and Anthony Summers. Anthony is a Pulitzer Prize finalist and has written of eight best-selling non-fiction books while Robbyn Swan has co-authored five ground-breaking non-fiction books. Her 2014 book, 'Looking for Madeleine' told the heartbreaking story of the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann.
Anthony and Robbyn were asked by the makers of the new Netflix documentary 'Disappearance of Madeline McCann' if they wanted to contribute to the documentary as Anthony and Robbyn were key journalists who covered the case a lot over the years.
The two wanted to make it clear that although they contributed to the documentary, they were not in control of it and did not get to pick what went in or not into it. They did, however, say that they were happy with what was presented on the documentary and did not feel that it was trying to tell a certain angle to the story.
The interview went into varying details about the case and what they perceive to be the truth. For example in regards to a lot of people's feelings that the parents are the ones that are involved in the kidnapping of Madeline, Anthony and Robbyn have said that in their time looking at this case, they have not seen a shred of evidence that suggests that the parents were involved in this. Of course, they have said that you cannot say this 100%, but with the amount of evidence that exists at the minute, they don't see how the parents were involved.
