On Wednesday's 'Déise Today', Damien was talking to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar who down visiting Waterford for the naming and commission of the Naval service's newest vessel, the LÉ George Bernard Shaw in Waterford City.
He was also down to canvass for a yes vote for a directly elected mayor.
The May 24th vote will ask the people of Waterford, Cork City and Limerick if they want to directly elect a mayor with executive functions for a five-year term.
Damien started off the interview with Mr Varadkar by asking him about the cath lab, saying "It's now past five o'clock which means the cath lab is closed as you know, it's a real problem for people down here".
Taoiseach Varadkar says that he is committed to the building of a second cath lab and stated that the issue of building the second cath lab was a political, social and a funding issue.
When discussing the idea of a directly elected mayor, Mr Varadkar believes that this will be an excellent thing for Waterford and is hoping for a yes vote. "If Waterford does vote no to this, I'd be afraid that Waterford would be left behind by the other cities".
