On Monday's version of 'Déise Today', Damien was speaking to Luke about how as a baby he nearly died due to problems with his heart and now as a young adult, he is cycling competitively and performing in competitions in cycling, a sport that puts a lot of strain on the heart.
Luke was joined by his two parents who went through the story of just as Luke was born, that he was suffering problems with his heart and had to be transported to Crumlin hospital. However, this was after quite a long wait and they were afraid that Luke might not survive the journey.
However Luke battled through this and from a young age was only interested in one sport really, cycling.
"I've played loads of different types of sports, rugby, GAA and soccer, none of them kept my interest though, my love was always cycling".

Also on the show, Damien was talking to Stephen Wallace, who last Friday morning was due to go in for surgery into University Hospital Waterford to get rid of cancer.
However, once he got into the hospital and checked in was when everything started to go wrong.
Stephen recalls how one of the managers came up to him and had to explain to him that the hospital was at a critical point with hospital beds and that they simply did not have a bed for him. She apologized for this and Stephen says that “I could tell that she was really upset that she had to tell me this, it’s just her job at the end of the day”.
