On Wednesday's version of 'Déise Today', Damien was speaking to Richie who is from the city. Riche was walking through the city centre yesterday when he came across a young child who clearly gotten out of his house and was running around on the streets among traffic. Richie says that this was a scary experience and he could not imagine if it was his own child as well. He say’s that after 20-30 minutes, the mother came and picked up the child.

Also on the show, Damien was speaking to Tánaiste Simon Coveney on a number of topics including Brexit and the investigation into bullying at the Waterford branch of Fine Gael, a claim made by Waterford TD John Deasy.

Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney says that ‘we have multiple scenarios in how to stop smugglers if there is a hard border with Brexit’.

Mr Coveney was speaking to Damien Tiernan on WLR FM’s ‘Déise Today’ after yesterday, where Coveney brought three memos to Cabinet in relation to Ireland’s preparedness for the UK’s exit from the EU.He says that “A no-deal Brexit will be very challenging. It will put a huge strain on certain sectors of the Irish economy”.

When dealing with smugglers, Mr Coveney says actions such as ‘pre-registering, pay customs duties online are the way’s that we can deal with this, along with physical checking”.
When quizzed about Waterford Fine Gael TD John Deasy, who has accused the Waterford branch of the party of bullying, the Tanaiste revealed that ” anybody making an accusation in Fine Gael will have a full investigation into the accusation”.

For a timescale, he says that ” We don’t want this issue to linger.. we need to be on the ground in Waterford to raise morale ahead of the general election which will happen in the next 12 months”.
