Babies born into the De La Salle club in Wateford City are now being welcomed with a mini GAA jersey.
The club says the De La Salle Babies Initiative aims to develop a sense of togetherness between adult players, juvenile players, parents, non-playing members, former players, supporters and the greater DLS, Gracedieu and Cleaboy communities a new Community Committee was formed.
Chair of the newly formed Community Committee at DLS Suzanne Wymberry. Speaking at its launch she says: “ The DLS Babies is a cherished Club welcome to our newest members showing that we are an open and caring Club. "We are formally welcoming our Club’s new arrivals to the GAA Culture of games and the opportunity to participate fully, grow & develop, and be inspired in a family engagement with the Club.”
Barry & Laura Murphy and their baby Jimmy Barry Murphy who was born in February were the first to be presented with the ‘DLS Baby’ Gift Pack of a DLS baby jersey, ‘DLS Baby on Board’ Car Sticker & DLS Baby Card.

Their other son John is a Deise supporter out & out though.
Waterford Camogie All-Star Beth Carton says “ we are very proud of what DLS means to our community and it’s a huge motivator to see our Club Colours worn at matches and throughout the County. I feel this can connect us all even more within the Club.”
The initiative will run for all Club babies born after 1/1/21 and Club members will be able to apply to the Community Committee for a Gift Pack from the DLS GAA website.
The Community Committee is made up of Suzanne Wymberry, Trevor Clooney, Eddie Mulligan, Deirdre Byrne, Jake Dillon, Beth Carton, Ricky Grogan, Fran O’ Callaghan, Trevor Clooney & Lisa Mullally on generating the youngest GAA & Camogie fan base in the Country.
