An incident involving three women fighting in John Roberts' Square in the city on Friday afternoon last has been described as "unacceptable," by a local councillor.
Speaking on Déise Today with Eamon Keane, Cllr Eddie Mulligan of Fianna Fail said it was an isolated incident and the matter is now being investigated by gardaí.
The video which displays three women fighting in broad daylight around 2 pm was uploaded onto social media on Good Friday.
This is the second video of fighting in Waterford that has appeared on social media in recent months and both incidents took place in the same area.
One listener who contacted 'Déise Today' by text message has described the incident as shocking.
“Hi, Eamon,
Have you seen the latest video on Facebook showing women fighting in John Roberts' Square last Friday?! I saw it over the weekend and it's just shocking.
Clearly, this is a regular occurrence in our city now and I can't help but wonder...are we safe going into town anymore?
Sarah"
