The CEO of Waterford and County Council has described the withdrawal of two objections that were going before An Borad Pleanála as a “significant step.”
The first objection which was withdrawn related to access for cruise ships in the city and was withdrawn yesterday by Pat Moran from Cheekpoint.
The last and final objection which related to Business owner Eddie Lynch’s Top Oil station was withdrawn this morning by Mt Lynch just before the An Board Pleanála hearing was about to begin.
Speaking to Eamon after the final objection was withdrawn Mr Walsh said:
“What we are doing is, we are going to address the position of modernity on the Northside of the River Suir with a wonderful old city of small streets that we have and we are satisfied that we can make these too work together.”
According to the CEO, during the development which is expected to begin in 2019, there is certainty of over 1,000 construction jobs.
He has described the development for Waterford as a “game changer”
“We would envisage between 3,000 jobs being created within 3,4 or 5 years.”
