WHAT effect does suicide have on a family and does the pain ever go away...
On this morning's Deise Today, Lismore man Jimmy O'Gorman told his personal story of dealing with the suicide of his son and the reality of life having to go on afterwards.
Jimmy and his wife Ann lost their son Pat, then aged just 25, to suicide 22 years ago.
Being to talk about what happened was key for him, as a father, in coming to terms with what happened, he said.
And he described the experience as being like "turning off the brightest light in your life, never again to come on" but said you "learn how to cope and move around in that dark place"...
Jimmy was speaking to Damien to coincide with the launch of this year's 'Cycle for SOS - 20k Challenge' which takes place between March 29 and April 11 and is supported by WLR.
