1. Appeals for ASTI to return to Leaving Cert Talks

Junior Minister Niall Collins has appealed to the ASTI teachers' union to go back into talks on the Leaving Cert. Yesterday the union walked out of the talks over concerns about predictive grading, a move which the Minister for Further Education has described as “beyond unhelpful”.

2. Murder inquiry underway after man shot dead in Dublin

An investigation is underway after a man in his forties was shot dead in north Dublin yesterday evening. It happened in Belclare Terrace in Ballymun.

3. Plans for a sensory garden in Tramore one step closer

A competition to design the garden was won by fourth-year WIT architecture student Lauren Keane from Hillview. The design aims to stimulate all five senses.

4. Waterford gives green light for an online St Patrick’s Day 2021

The Council is calling on the Déise clan, at home and abroad, to make St Patrick’s Day 2021 a date to be remembered for how we came together online to show how proud we are of our City and County. A green-themed festival will exhibit the vibrancy and resilience of the City and County, according to the local authority.

5. Love at ‘The Bridge’: Couples recall their first encounter at the Waterford venue

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, we’re hearing from couples who met at one very well known Waterford nightclub. The Bridge Hotel was one of the most popular venues for young people in the city, county and surrounding areas.

6. St Martin’s special school celebrate reopening with Jerusalema dance

The school, which has 76 pupils and 73 staff, reopened for inperson classes on Thursday for the first time since December. Principal Richard Ryan said staff wanted to do something to mark the happy occasion and only came up with the idea of doing the dance on Monday. Watch the video here.
