The mayor of Waterford City & County, Joe Conway, unveiled Playful Streets this week in Coolfin Woods, Portlaw, a project intended to encourage kids to play together carefully outside.
The campaign aims to inspire kids to forgo sofas, their televisions, mobile devices, and gaming consoles in favour of forging a more robust, welcoming, and kid-friendly community outside.
This summer, there are over 15 events scheduled, many of which have already taken place. It's a terrific opportunity for the community to work together on a project that is doable and illustrates the advantages of play and social contact, as well as a number of additional obvious benefits.
