This unique sand art mural was constructed at Bunmahon Beach, Co. Waterford, as part of Clean Coasts' 20th anniversary celebration yesterday, created by artist Sean Corcoran from The Art Hand. The sand art installation, which features a gigantic cake with enormous 2-0 candles on top, was captured by photographer Cathal Noonan. Sean is currently taking part in TG4 show Cruthaím, where a group of young people from Donegal's Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máistr will collaborate with him on a sand art project.

By assisting over 2000 community organisations in organising beach clean-ups, enabling individuals, conducting marine litter inspections, and carrying out a variety of environmentally focused tasks in their area, Clean Coasts improves Ireland's coastal environment in a significant way.

Clean Coasts has grown and now encompasses the following as well; Green Coast Award, Love Your Coast Photography competition, Clean Coasts Roadshow, Clean Coasts Grants Scheme, Corporate Volunteering and the Ocean Hero Award.

More than 4,000 people have volunteered for Clean Coasts' more than 300 national clean-ups, and the organisation can proudly say that it has collected more than 25 tonnes of waste from Ireland.

Clean Coasts would like to give a big thank you to all the volunteers and communities who joined #WorldOceanDay to make Clean Coasts' 20th anniversary celebration so special.
