Celebrating The Lives of Those Who Have Died By Suicide

During Suicide Prevention Month, we come together to celebrate the lives of those who have lost their battles to suicide. We also recognize the impact they've had on our lives and communities. Throughout this month, WLR have been sharing personal stories of both loss and hope. While suicide is an incredibly complex issue, it reminds us to offer comfort and support to those who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts. Together, we can create hope through our actions. If you or someone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts, there are support services available.

Services Available

  • Suicide or Survive (SOS) is a nationwide Irish charity focused on breaking down the stigma associated with mental health issues and ensuring that those affected have access to quality recovery services that are right for the individual.
  • Turn2Me is a high-quality, safe, anonymous, and confidential space for you to gain support for your mental health online.
  • Jigsaw provide free, confidential, brief mental health supports for young people aged 12-25 in communities around Ireland.
  • Text About It provides a free anonymous texting service. They are here to listen and discuss anxiety, abuse, alcohol Misuse, bullying, Stress and Suicidal thoughts.

  • Recovery Colleges provide recovery-focused education. Their service recognises the person with the self-experience of distress as the expert. Recovery Colleges work to create a space where people can come together to share and learn about recovery from mental health and addiction challenges.

  • Stresscontrol.ie provide online resources to help control and manage stress.
  • Mental Health Ireland was established in 1966, they have been front and centre in promoting mental health, supporting people with lived experience of mental health challenges in their recovery and bringing practical expression to national policy objectives.
  • Aware are the national organisation providing free support, education and information services to people impacted by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and related mood conditions.
