Please Support Our Mental Health Awareness Fundraiser - Cycle for SOS

For the 2nd year in a row, we're teaming up with the team behind The Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Cycle to raise vital funds for Suicide Or Survive - a mental health awareness charity which runs mental health and wellness workshops in Waterford city and county.

Cycle For SOS sets the challenge to cycle 20km within your 5km radius, over a 2 week period. The challenge will take place from March 29th to April 11th and we're asking you and your family and friends to take part and donate.

Why We Need Your Help

The Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Cycle in aid of Suicide or Survive (SOS), takes place each year in Lemybrien, County Waterford. The fundraiser organised by Liam Brazil, is now in its seventh year and has raised €60,000 since 2015. This year’s cycle was due to take place on Easter Sunday but due the coronavirus restrictions we are setting the virtual challenge once again this year.

Now more than ever during these difficult times people are struggling with their mental health and need the services that Suicide or Survive provide. We need your help to ensure that we still raise these vital funds this year. As we cannot hold the actual event, we are asking you to take on the 20km cycle challenge within 5km from your own home.

Your support will go a long way towards helping SOS continue to provide their essential services to facilitate mental health awareness workshops for people in Waterford.

All updates will be posted on WLR's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or check out Mental Health and Suicide Awareness on Facebook and or on Instagram. Stay connected by using the hashtag #CYCLEFORSOS.

About Suicide or Survive

Suicide or Survive (SOS) is a nationwide Irish charity focused on breaking down the stigma associated with mental health issues and ensuring that those affected have access to quality recovery services that are right for the individual.

SOS are working to build a society where people embrace their mental health wellness and those with difficulties are treated with dignity and respect, and experience a service that offers them hope, a safe place and a positive future. SOS is leading the way through active collaboration which we believe will drive positive social change.

SOS have for over a decade now been delivering educational workshops filled with tips tools and techniques to help manage the pressures and strains of daily lives.

As a result of the current Covid-19 crisis the demand for SOS workshops has risen dramatically, due to the movement and assembly restrictions SOS are unable to convene any live gatherings. However, as it is said necessity is often the mother of invention and the team at SOS are so passionate about sharing their learnings that they have worked diligently to prepare and present a number of live online webinars covering key topics that will be of immense benefit.

The SOS team would love to invite you to join the free online webinars running daily, the details of how you can register can be found on: https://suicideorsurvive.ie/programmes-events-calendar/
