This four-part documentary shines a spotlight on Waterford’s iconic Tops of the Town competition. The event began in 1962 and brought local companies and community groups together for variety shows. Each group competed to put on the best hour-long performance.
Over 35 years, Waterford produced several national winners. Among the most famous were the ACEC and Waterford Crystal shows. The documentary is produced by WLR’s Wayne Brown, a well-known musical director and production manager. The series is narrated by celebrated playwright Jim Nolan.
Featured groups include ACEC, Waterford Crystal, Waterford Banks and Finance, Port and Docks, Waterford Foundry, and Tramore Community Group.
The programmes include interviews with many Tops of the Town legends. They recall great nights, local stories, and unforgettable moments in Waterford’s entertainment history.
