Senator John Cummins Responds To Criticism over Golfgate Dinner - Deise Today Thursday 3rd September

Following weeks of analysis and a number of resignations over the Oireachtas Golf Society Dinner in Galway amid Covid-19 restrictions, Senator John Cummins, who attended the event, speaks to Damien on the show. He responds to criticism of his attendance at the event and his failure to speak publicly about it in the days following the story breaking.

Also on the show sports reporter Nigel Kelly speaks to Michael Bennett, father of Sam Bennett who won the green jersey in the Tour De France yesterday, the first Irish man to do so since Waterford's Sean Kelly some 31 years ago.

And we hear from the principal of Waterpark National School about students returning to class.

In the second part of the programme Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane and Labour councillor John Pratt give their reaction to John Cummins' interview.

Damien also speaks to Michael Burke, a former New York resident who is preparing to travel throughout Ireland on a unique charity fund and awareness raising effort. He will have a special 9/11 GAA jersey for each county which has been designed and donated by O'Neill's in Strabane, Co Tyrone, where a 9/11 flag raising memorial will take place on September 11th.

Some farmers are being blacklisted due to a TB outbreak. Damien speaks to TJ Maher, Tipperary based Vice Chairman of the IFA's National Animal Health Committee. He also gives his reaction to the appointment of a new agricultural minister, the third so far this year.

And in the latest Coming Out Of Covid feature, Kieran O Connor speaks to Peter Fowler, the owner of The Granary Cafe in Waterford.
