A DUNGARVAN-based auctioneer says there's been a big increase in UK "cash" buyers purchasing properties in Dungarvan - and many are buying after seeing houses online only.
Remote working has seen a big trend in people moving out of cities while lots of people are also retiring to towns like Dungarvan from the UK, says auctioneer Denise Radley.
She said many buyers are simply doing the 'virtual walk-throughs' on line, following up with a video call with auctioneers from the houses, and then placing an offer.
And towns like Dungarvan, she added, ticked the boxes in terms of amenities, accessibility and connectivity.
On the Deise Today programme, Denise Radley told Damien Tiernan that the pandemic has resulted in a dramatic change in the mix of buyers in the market.
"We've had to change the way we do business and adapt the business model, because of Covid," she told Damien.
The UK market was "especially busy" and lots of people were ringing in daily, wanting to move from urban areas.
"They are running out of space because of working from home and the house needs to do more for them than before," she said.
Denise Radley acknowledged that supply was a big issue at the moment, and consequently, with a strong cash-buyer situation currently, there was an unfortunate possibility of some local buyers being priced out of the market.
She said, however, more housing stock will become available and that situation will change.
Also, she told Damien that more family housing will come on the market too as older people continue to downsize.
