Our political panel look back at week 1 on the election trail - Deise Today Friday 17th January

On today's show Damien discusses the gruesome murder of 17 year old Keane Mulready Woods and the fall out from his death as Gardai deal with a drugs feud in Drogheda. Damien is joined by Newstalk report Kacey O Riordain and The Irish Daily Star reporter Michael O Toole.

Also in part 1, Damien is joined by our political panel of journalists Dermot Keyes and Mary Frances Ryan from The Waterford News and Star, Kieran Foley from The Munster Express, as well as retired journalist Johnny O Connor.

They look back at the week in politics as all election candidates launch their campaigns.

In the second hour of the show, Damien meets some local craft makers who are taking part in an exhibition to showcase their work, including Eamonn Terry from Criostal no Rinne, Christine Murphy from Urban Aran Knitwear, and Polly Doyle from Polly and Andy.

Damien is also joined is studio by WLR's farming correspondent Kieran O Connor who celebrates 30 years of Farmview, the farming programme, on WLR. He is presented with a cake in studio to mark the occasion.

Gavin Whelan has the latest on sport including women's basketball.
