Grantstown Tomato Farm, Ballygunner
Grantstown Nurseries is based in Ballygunner on the outskirts of Waterford city. They have been supplying top quality tomatoes to the Irish market since 1978. A family business with a long tradition of innovation and the highest horticultural practices, all tomatoes are grown to the highest standards and are certified under the Bord Bia quality assurance scheme. Their tomatoes can be found at Ardkeen Quality Food Store, Dunnes, Supervalu and Tesco and are used in many local restaurants and cafes.
Knockanore Cheese Farm, Tallow
Knockanore Cheese is handmade on the Lonergan family farm in Co. Waterford, using raw milk from their pedigree herd of Friesian cows. The Lonergan family have been farming in the lush rolling countryside of Knockanore for over 60 years. The cheese is a hard-pressed, mature farmhouse cheese made in the cheddar style. The raw milk adopts the flavours of the local pasture on which the cows graze producing a cheddar cheese with a complex creamy flavour, earthy tones and a nutty aroma.
Fitzgerald’s Open-Source Dairy Farm, Portlaw
Shane Fitzgerald is farming with his father near Portlaw Co. Waterford. They are currently milking 200 young cows and Shane also has an interest in sustainability and biodiversity and feels it is important to keep striving to make improvements on the farm in these areas. For him, the farm needs to be both economically and socially sustainable.
Flynn’s Award Winning Horse Breeder, Colligan
Niall and Claire Flynn run a very successful stud and dairy farm in Colligan, Co. Waterford. Niall had huge success this year when the Flynn owned and bred mare Colreevy won the Mares’ Chase at Cheltenham in March.
McGrath’s Beef and Sheep Farmers/Butchers, Lismore
Michael McGrath is one of several generations to run this shop, now followed by son John. At McGrath's you'll find incredible quality, a passionate team and the very best of Irish meats, including beef and lamb from McGrath’s own farm that has been slaughtered in their own abattoir and dry-aged onsite. There’s also home-cured bacon, organic chickens and much, much more.
