On Wednesday night in 'The Reg' bar and restaurant, Damien and the 'Déise Today' team hosted a Champions League preview night ahead of the final in the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, the home of Atletico Madrid.

The game is taking place between Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur, two teams that in Waterford would have strong followings from the football community.

There was plenty of slagging throughout the night, and good fun had by all as the two sets of fans bombarded each other with witty jabs and funny moments.

There was talk about the two histories of the clubs, how the fans became supporters of the two clubs as well as the tactics of the two clubs which might decide whether the Coupe des Clubs Champions Européens will be heading to Merseyside or the N17.

On the night were the two sets of the Waterford supporters clubs of Liverpool FC as well as Spurs. People from as far as Lemybrien to Tramore came into Waterford City for the night, and they certainly seemed to enjoy themselves.

A lot of pictures and videos that were taking on the night will be going up on the WLR social media sites over the weekend as well.

Also on the programme was Green Party candidate for the European elections Grace O'Sullivan, who is from Tramore.

In Ireland south, after the final count, Grace was in the final seat and thus would become an MEP.

However, a full recount had been ordered for the Ireland South constituency.

The recount will begin next Tuesday, 4 June at 9 am. It was ordered after Sinn Féin’s Liadh Ní Riadha requested it following an earlier recheck of votes.

The recount will determine who will take the fifth and final seat in the tightly fought constituency where just 327 votes separate the fifth and sixth candidates.
