A patient speaks out, Gay Byrne remembered & a hero met - Listen to Deise Today Tuesday November 5th

A very brave Waterford woman, Shauna Aylward, speaks out on today's show about her experiences in the psychiatric ward at University Hospital Waterford.

Also on the show Damien remembers the legend that was Gay Byrne. The broadcaster passed away yesterday at the age of 85. Waterford man Frankie McEvoy talks about his experience of meeting the man while filming a documentary for Crumlin Childrens hospital.

Damien is also joined in studio by Stan Bergin and his daughter Kim, who has Cystic Fibrosis. Kim met her hero, Katie Taylor, at the weekend as part of the Make A Wish foundation.

 

In the second part of the programme Damien hears about FEACH, a group that run a campaign to get better support for visually impaired children in Ireland.

Mental Health Campaigner Toni Breen and People Before Profit member Una Dunphy are on to talk about the mental health services in Waterford and an upcoming protest.

And he hear details about a meeting due to be held in Dungarvan which will be addressed by Garda Assistant Commissioner Finn who will give an overview of the new Garda divisional set up.
