Waterford IT are proposing plans to build a 15,000 sq metre air dome at their Carriganore Campus.
They say the structure would be the 'biggest of its kind in the world', and would allow 10,000 people to attend cultural, economic, and sporting events.
It's hoped the Health, Sport and Wellness Hub would also have 10 office spaces, a laboratory and seminar rooms.
Metropolitan Cllrs are to be briefed by WIT on the proposal next week in a special meeting.
