A Waterford-based artist is doing his bit to counteract recent anti-LGBTQ+ activities locally.
Donal Talbot put a call-out last night to his fellow artists to submit designs, and for others to donate towards the cost of getting these designs printed as posters.
He says there's been a fantastic response in a very short space of time.
And he explained on Déise Today what he intends to do:
"We're going to print the photos using a technique where basically you can kind of glue them down on a thin sheet and we're going to post them around public spaces where we've gotten permission to put them.
"And hopefully we'll get a more positive response of solidarity and joy around the city."
Donal recently moved here to live with his partner and he says it was tough to see the recent destruction of the Pride flags and the subsequent 'Straight Pride' posters:
"It really was a shock to see these posters and to hear about the burning of flags because I myself know that's not representative of the Waterford of today and of the Ireland of today.
"I think, when these things happen, you almost have to respond positively. You need to bring joy.
"If anybody is around Waterford over the next few days, keep an eye out for the posters - they'll be in and around different places."
Donal also said, despite the great response already, he is still looking for people to get in touch.
The email to submit a design to be printed is [email protected], which is also the PayPal link if anyone is interested in donating money towards the printing costs.
The artists says although it's just him and his partner at the moment, he thinks it "has the potential to be a real movement."
