Tallow Cllr John Pratt says the club's changing rooms have been gutted.

"It's a terrible situation here locally I actually live in the estate adjacent to the soccer pitch.

"It's a tough time for anyone and one section is completely gutted - it's devastating especially at a time when we are due to return to sport," Cllr Pratt said.

Cllr Pratt commended members of the public and emergency services for the swift response to the incident.

"You have to commend the Lismore and Tallow fire brigades for their prompt action. By them being there as quickly as they were able to save one of the adjacent buildings.

"The work they did at the time - they were phenomenal and did everything they could to salvage as much as they could.

"It's so important to have these emergency services in your locality and you really appreciate them in times like this," he said.
