Ireland and the UK are to make a joint bid to host the 2030 Fifa World Cup. In a joint statement, the five football associations of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales said that they were delighted to support a prospective bid for the tournament.

Bus Éireann say that 8 workers in Waterford have tested positive for Covid-19. There are 160 staff in Waterford, and 5 percent of services last week didn't run as staff were required to self-isolate.

A recent newspaper report highlighted that only three councillors in Waterford attended all their council meetings in 2020. However, they say there is no opportunity to record the reason for absences or provision for sick leave or maternity leave.

Cheveley Park Stud has become the first major owner to remove horses from Gordon Elliott following a controversial photo of him sitting on a dead horse. Stud owner Patricia Thompson has confirmed eight horses would be leaving Elliott and moving to the yard of Waterford trainer Henry De Bromhead.

It’s been a very happy 24 hours for Waterford couple Nick and Marie Murphy. This morning Nick and Marie of Hillview, Waterford both received their Covid 19 vaccine at the Keogh Practice in the Waterford Primary Care Centre, John’s Hill, Waterford. Yesterday, on Monday 1st March, Nick and Marie were delighted to receive news of their first great grandchild being born at University Hospital Waterford.

Taylor Swift has reacted to criticism about a joke in new Netflix hit show "Ginny & Georgia" which she has labelled "lazy" and "deeply sexist". The line in the show, which is No.1 on the Netflix charts in Ireland this week, takes a stab at Taylor's dating past with one of the characters commenting "You go through men faster than Taylor Swift." Tay-Tay wasn't having it and has hit back.
