This New York Times Documentary, directed by Samantha Stark, has sparked countless conversations about the media treatment of the pop-singer, and society's complicity in it all. The programme is book-ended by the #FreeBritney movement, a group of people speaking out against Jamie Spear's conservatorship of his daughter, which is now the subject of an ongoing court case.
After the massive impact the documentary had in the States, Sky decided to show it on this side of the water on February 16th. Maria watched it, and says while she feels it certainly puts a spotlight on the ill-treatment of Britney Spears, and the callous attitude towards her mental health difficulties, she thought it was found wanting as a documentary.
