Waterford or Kilkenny? Students at the Abbey Community College are supporting both

Students at a school on the Waterford-Kilkenny border have been gearing up for tomorrow's All Ireland Senior Hurling semi-final.

The county boundary runs right through the Abbey Community College in Ferrybank with part of the school in Waterford, and part in Kilkenny.

The divide doesn't end at the border though and the rivalry has been heating up over the past week between students and teachers.

Deputy Principal at the Abbey Community College Helen O'Connor says that having the match at this time of year has given the students a great lift.

"It's great fun- especially now with the year that's in it. Normally we'd be starting back at school and you'd have a week or two of rivalry before an All Ireland Final, but this year it's lovely to have something to look forward to.

"I think that that G.A.A is very much bringing people together this year. This Saturday regardless of the outcome - the school here will be supporting whatever team gets through to the All Ireland Final."

There was plenty of conflict and banter between everyone at the Abbey. Listen back to Aoife Kearns' report from the centre of contention here:
