The Football Association of Ireland has launched an investigation “as a matter of urgency” over a video that was shown to players before the international friendly against England last week.
Stephen Kenny's side lost 3-0 in the Wembley encounter.
The news was first reported by the Daily Mail, who claimed “a video depicting the history of Anglo-Irish relations” was shown to the Irish players before the match.
The report added that a number of Irish players were upset by the content of the video.
An FAI spokesperson said: “The Football Association of Ireland is aware of issues surrounding content shared with our Republic of Ireland senior men’s team ahead of the recent international friendly against England at Wembley Stadium.
“The FAI is already looking into this internally as a matter of urgency, in order to establish the facts. The FAI has no further comment to make at this time.”
