Would the pubs reopening in December calm the situation regarding outdoor drinking and gatherings?!
Yesterday, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn said this wasn't the answer to the outdoor drinking situation but that people behaving responsibly and not gathering in large numbers, was!
On this morning's Deise Today, Damien spoke to Jonathan McDade from Drinks Ireland who are the representative body for drinks suppliers and manufacturers.
They have called for pubs to be given the opportunity to reopen safely at the start of December, urging the Government to make their decisions fairly and based on evidence, research and data.
The organisation have pointed to studies of the virus around the world which, they say, show only limited examples of spread in hospitality venues.
Drinks Ireland say if pubs remain closed, people will be driven to "unregulated environments" and mix in larger groups without social distancing.
The views attracted plenty of reaction from listeners to this morning's show, including those of bar manager Catherine and also Jimmy, who spent 40 years in total working in pubs and the hospitality industry generally.
