Waterford GAA’s management committee has proposed Dungarvan be stripped of their county intermediate football title.

The recommendation comes after a player lined out in the County Intermediate final against Kill earlier this month while awaiting a Covid-19 test result, which turned out to be positive.

According to the Irish Examiner, six club members have also been recommended suspensions by the county’s Coiste Bainistí.

The paper reports that the club has until Wednesday to confirm whether they will accept or contest them.

If the proposals are not accepted, the matter will go before the county’s hearings committee.

The GAA club apologised in the wake of the controversy. In a statement on their Facebook page, the club said it had made 'errors' interpreting the Covid-19 guidelines and the situation had been 'mishandled'.
