Former Waterford FC manager Alan Reynolds has confirmed he is in "positive talks" with Dundalk FC.  The Blues manager told Damien Tiernan on Deise Today that he would prefer not to be leaving his hometown club, and would rather stay "if everything was right".

Reynolds has been in charge of the Blues since 2017, securing promotion from the First to Premier Division in his first year with the club. He then drove the club on to reach a European position in 2018, to then consolidate Waterford as a top flight club in 2019.

He revealed that he had been "starved of information" and that a lack of communication with the club's owner Lee Power was a factor in his decision to leave the club.

All players and management are currently temporarily laid off from employment at the RSC due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and Reynolds said he was disappointed at the way the lay-offs were handled.

Speaking to Damien Tiernan Reynolds admitted that it the decision to walk away from the club was a very tough one but he hasn't been paid in four months and he needs to think about his family. The uncertainty over the club's future also fed into his decision.

Reynolds, who has been linked with backroom positions with both the Republic of Ireland Under-21s and Dundalk, admitted he "had options", but nothing has been agreed yet.
