Government to Back Holiday Credit Notes - Deise Today Monday 11th May

If you, like many other people, have a holiday booked for this summer that will now not happen, the government are planning to step in to help.  According to reports, holidaymakers who have had to cancel their holidays because of Covid-19 will receive a government-backed credit note for the value of their holiday. Damien speaks to Dermot Jewel from the Consumers Association of Ireland.

Also we hear from Aishling Duggan on the financial impact of the cancellation of her daughters communion. She has already paid out a deposit of 100 euro on 400 euro worth of bouncy castles plus 600 euro spent on dress and accessories.

We get an update on the situation with Irish soldiers in The Lebanon from Shelly Cotter PRO of Wives And Partners of Defence Forces, as well as Mairead Barry Landers from Lismore whose husband is in the Lebanon.

And Daniel McConnell political editor with the Irish Examiner has the latest on the inquiry into the "Grace" case which looks to be delayed again after an extension was sought last Friday.

Dr Geoff Plant joins Damien for his weekly medical slot when he discusses Covid-19 and obesity. Medical experts have expressed concerns that a stigma is developing that obese people are spreading Coronavirus, and that such patients could be discriminated against when normal health screening returns. More than one million people are clinically obese in Ireland which makes them among the most vulnerable to complications from COVID-19.

Damien also speaks to award winning chef Michael Quinn about the surge in bread-making and the popularity of 'soda bread' in Germany.
