Waterford's football family are mourning the death of one of their favourite sons - Noel Griffin.
He was an iconic Waterford FC defender who played a major role in the success story of Blues dominance of the mid to late 60's.

Noel Griffin played all of his schoolboy football with Waterford Bohemians. He also played on the senior Bohemians team before he was signed by Waterford FC in 1957.
A superb defender, Noel could play in any position in defence and he also excelled in midfield when required.
He played a pivotal role when Waterford won the League of Ireland Championship for the first ever time in season 1965/66. He won another championship medal in season 67/68 and he marked George Best in those never to be forgotten European Cup games between the Blues and Manchester United in 1968.
His son Robert went on to become a superb Waterford FC player also.
