The Gunners take on Eastern-rivals De La Salle in an eagerly awaited decider in Walsh Park

Ballyunner have maintained their fine form again this season, and were impressive semi-final winners over Dungarvan last month

De La Salle are seeking their first title since 2012, they overcame Mount Sion in a hard fought semi-final with Shane McNulty playing a key role in the half-back line

However, the Waterford defender says they're well aware of the challenge they face this afternoon.

Dessie Hutchinson has caught the eye up-front for the Gunners, he's back playing hurling for the first time since U-16 following soccer spells with Brighton and Waterford FC.

He has been really impressed by the set-up and energy in the Ballygunner camp.

Both teams are undefeated in this year's championship and Gunners boss Darragh O'Sullivan says that De La Salle are worthy finalists

County Board Chairman Paddy Joe Ryan will be presenting the News & Star Cup for the final time as his term as Chairman comes to an end in December

Entry today will be €20 for adults and €15 for Students/OAPs with valid ID.  Under 16s are Free of Charge.

Traffic Restrictions before and during match.

A cordon will be put in place around Walsh Park. Cordon in place from 1:30pm to 5pm. The cordon will consist of the following points.

  • Vincent White Road at Ashe Road Roundabout will be closed off up to Walsh Park Arbour Road Junction. (Road closed to Traffic)
  • At Keane’s Road/Morrison’s Avenue Junction (Road Closed to all Traffic)
  • Slievekeale Road/Bernard Place Junction to Keane’s Road Junction (Back of Stand) (Road closed to Traffic)
  • Tycor Road to Roundabout at Keane’s Road (Road closed to Traffic)

We are urging patrons to travel early and avoid the Williamstown/Grange area due to the Solas Centre Run taking place on the same day.

Walsh Park is located in a residential area and illegal parking will not be tolerated. Anyone who is found to be obstructing entrances or emergency routes will have their vehicle removed by the Gardai. Please use the designated car-parks mentioned below.

 

Match Day Parking

There are a number of Official Match Parking Areas which include:

  • Mount Sion GAA Social Centre – Space for 900 cars, Free Bus Parking and Bar and Catering on site – EIR Code X91 RK51 – Less than 1km from pitch
  • Presentation Secondary School – Entry via Cannon Street.
  • Waterford Shopping Centre – Space for 200 cars – X91 X661 – 2km
  • Waterford Crystal Car Park – Space for 100 cars – EIR Code X91 VY04
  • City Centre Car-Parks - 3kms

Stiles will be in operation and below is a guide to entry points for each area.

  • Stiles 1-4 - North Terrace (Upper Keane’s Road)
  • Stiles 11-14 – Keane’s Road End of Stand
  • Stiles 17-18 – City End of Stand
  • East Terrace (Lower Slievekeale – City End) – IS CLOSED
  • VIP/Media Entrance is located at the middle of the Stand, opposite the Waterford Health Park.
  • Wheelchair Entrance is located at the Main Gate at the roundabout at Keane’s Road.

All 3 ticket booths will be in operation on the day.

Gates will open at 1:30pm. The stand is unreserved and seats are on a first come first served basis. Entry via Terraces also leads to the stand.
