Cruinniú na nÓg

Tracy McEneaney from Waterford Libraries with Mary "On the Fringe."

Cruinniú na nÓg is a national day of creativity for young people under the age of 18 and is run by Creative Ireland. It's taking place this year primarily on Saturday June 15th, but there are also events on the days leading up to it.  It's a celebration of the arts from music to circus workshops to crafts, collage, African drumming and lots more.

All events are free and there is plenty happening in Waterford, as Tracy McEneaney of Waterford Library services outlined when she dropped into me for a chat.

Events in Waterford

All 12 branches of the library in Waterford will host Cruinniú events, and because they're not all open on Saturday, some will take place in the days preceding June 15th. Some highlights include a workshop by Joe Brennan at Ardkeen Library, workshops at the Central Library by Music Generation Waterford, a collage workshop for teens in Dungarvan library, gymboree at the Browns Road branch, and an art exhibition at Tramore Library.

There are also Cruinniú events at Central Arts, Garter Lane, South East Makerspace, the Rogue Gallery and the Goma Gallery, as well as artistic events at John Robert's Square as part of the Summer in the City festival.  You'll find out more about that festival here.

All Cruinniú events are free but you MUST book in advance

Tracy says it's really important that if your children are interest in an event that you book in advance. You'll find out everything you need to know here.
