The Waterford Wildcats won a thrilling game last night in the Women's Super League at the Mercy Hall.
Despite trailing by 28 points to 24 at halftime and by 42 points to 37 at the end of the third quarter they fought back to tie the game with NUIG at 52 points apiece at the end of normal time.
Huge baskets by Alyssa Velles and Cathy Kavanagh in overtime proved decisive and eventually the home side won the game against an injury hit NUIG team by 62 points to 58. They have now won two games on the bounce having beaten DCU two weeks ago.
The Wildcats coach Dimitri Zacharias said it was weird playing against an an under strength team.
