Waterford came away from Drogheda last night with a single goal that saw them through the second round of the FAI Cup.
Bastien Hery gave the Blues the lead after 4 minutes from 25 yards, giving the Drogheda goalkeeper Paul Skinner no chance. Drogheda had a chance to hit back on 13mins when a free kick wasn't cleared, but Chris Lyons shot over.
Early in the second half Noel Hunt met a Gary Comerford corner however he headed wide. Minutes later Mark Doyle had a super chance to equalise for the home side when he found himself deep inside the penalty area, yet again though the shot went wide as he dragged his shot across the face of the goal.
Izzy Akinade and Dessie Hutchinson had chances to double Waterford's lead but the Blues had to make do with the 1-0 win.
They are now in the hat for Monday night's quarter-final draw.
