Run For Life is a ten mile road race that will take place in Waterford on Sunday October 19th. The event is being organised by WLR FM to raise money for the new SOLAS centre in Waterford city. With the site for the SOLAS centre already donated by the Waerford City Council, South East Cancer Foundation now needs to raise €1 million to build it.

Special Olympics Ireland will participate in the BIGSING, a concept from UK music promoter David Lewis, which is a record breaking attempt for the Guinneess Book of Records of having over 293,978 children (the current world record number) all singing the same song simultaneously. The aim is to break the record with 1 million children singing at the same time.

Deise AM is the voice of the people and has been the most listened to and talked about radio show in Waterford for 19 years.

The issues of the day are discussed, the concerns of the city and county are tackled, decision makers are called to account and WLR fm airs the views of the largest radio audience in Waterford.

WLR FM's Michael Byrne and Wayne Brown scooped a national radio advertising award in the Mansion House, Dublin. They won the radio greenhorne award for their Valentine's Day promo "Just the way we are". WLR FM was one of the only radio stations who won an award on the night in what is dominated by big agencies.
